Park Location:
Facts about Arusha National Park

While it is one of the smaller parks, Arusha National Park offers many attractions: Arusha Waterfall and Ngurdoto Crater. While the latter is only three kilometers across, it is so reminiscent of Ngorongoro Crater that the locals call it Ngorongoro’s younger brother. The Momella Lakes are a unique attraction that allows for canoeing: a great way to get closer to the pink flamingoes that feed in the shallows.

Arusha National Park is also home to the majestic Mount Meru. Standing at 4566 meters, this dormant volcano is the fifth-highest point in all of Africa. It is a popular destination for those who enjoy the challenge of climbing, or preparation for climbing nearby Mount Kilimanjaro.

Wildlife Encounters:

Arusha National Park is renowned for its abundant wildlife, providing visitors with the opportunity to encounter a wide array of species in their natural habitat. Among the park’s inhabitants are iconic African animals such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, and buffalo. Additionally, Arusha National Park is home to a variety of primates, including blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, and the elusive black-and-white colobus monkey.

BEST TIME TO VISIT ARUSHA NP?

Due to its altitude (1300m), Arusha enjoys a temperate climate almost all year round. You can enjoy wildlife viewing year-round in Arusha National Park and surrounding regions, but the dry season from June to October is reckoned to be the best time when animals are easier to see as they congregate at rivers and waterholes. November to February provides good safari conditions. The wettest months are March, April, and May, although the rains do bring the benefit of greenery which makes the landscape photogenic
